FRATERNITY REACHES MEMBERSHIP MILESTONE WITH 300,000
OMAHA, NE – The Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity reached a major milestone with its membership today as our Eminent Supreme Recorder personally presented badge number 300,000. Christopher P. Collins, who pledged Nebraska Iota at Creighton University this past fall, is the proud recipient of the honor.
The chapter held a special ceremony on campus Friday evening for the occasion, as ESR Blaine Ayers, Eminent Supreme Chronicler Greg Brandt and Province Tau Council members represented the national organization at the event and offered congratulations to Collins and his brothers. In addition, several university officials, Nebraska Iota alumni and members of both Iowa Sigma and South Dakota Sigma attended the festivities.
Collins, a junior at Creighton, is pursuing a double major in business intelligence and analytics and computer science and receives an academic scholarship. Outside the classroom, he has worked on campus in a number of roles, from customer service to campus security to residence life. Collins grew up in a military family and moved around the country during his adolescence, but his family now resides in Harker Heights, Texas, and his parents work at Fort Hood. He has a younger brother, Aidan, and an older sister, Audrey.
During high school, he pursued various extracurricular activities, including Student Council, yearbook staff and stage productions. He was also inducted into the International Thespian Society and earned medals for a design portfolio. He joined Sigma Alpha Epsilon following a leave of absence from the university, and he says the chapter members had a genuine, well-rounded group of personalities that made him feel as though they were his extended family. He hopes his experience as a brother will continue to build both his character and his network as he gains valuable leadership experience.
In his spare time outside Sigma Alpha Epsilon activities, Collins enjoys fiddling with electronics, singing karaoke and socializing with friends.
Sigma Alpha Epsilon, founded in 1856 at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, is one of the nation’s largest national social fraternities, with 242 chapters and colonies, 12,000 collegiate members and more than 190,000 living alumni. Our creed is known as “The True Gentleman,” and our mission is to promote the highest standards of friendship, scholarship and service for our members based upon the ideals set forth by our Founders and as specifically enunciated in our creed.
