Richard Troncone New President of San Diego Downtown Rotary
100th President Leads Third Largest Rotary Club in the World

SAN DIEGO - Richard A. Troncone, real estate developer and active Rotarian for 25 years, has been installed as the 2009-2010 president of San Diego Downtown Rotary Club, the third largest Rotary Club in the world.

Troncone, its 100th president, leads the club as it approaches its centennial year. Founded in 1911, the club has more than 500 members and contributes upwards of $200,000 annually to local, national and international charitable missions. Members of its 60 committees provide in excess of 3,000 hours of community service each year and support a myriad of individuals in need, from local military veterans and high school students to disadvantaged women and children in other countries.

"The Rotary mission is to provide humanitarian assistance, encourage high ethical standards and help build good will and peace in the world," said Troncone, a member of the club since 1984. "Downtown Rotary's mission is to provide humanitarian assistance and improve the San Diego region with projects that include supporting a school for the homeless, building schools in Mexico, instructing high school juniors in the free enterprise system, and providing surgical services to underdeveloped areas worldwide. The club has succeeded despite the challenging economy and our board, members and staff are dedicated to continuing the trend in the coming fiscal year."

Troncone has served on the board of directors 10 times, including one term as secretary and treasurer, plus chaired the Program, Classification, Rotary International Foundation and Camp Enterprise committees. Through the club's School Partnership program, he has been a classroom reader for 18 years to second and third-grade students at an elementary school in a minority neighborhood.

Troncone is president of Price, Troncone & Associates, a commercial real estate development firm that has served major clients, including Cox Communications. A graduate of San Diego State University, Troncone served as president of the SDSU Alumni Association and has received the prestigious "Montys" award for Distinguished Service to the University. He is also the long time president of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Alumni Association of San Diego. He lives with his wife, Stephanie, a retired middle school principal and administrator, in San Diego. They have two grown children, Angela and Scott, who also live in San Diego.

Joining Troncone on the 2009-2010 board are: Bonnie Schwartz, president of Schwartz Design Group, president elect; Andrew W. Hewitt, vice president, ICx Technologies, Inc., secretary-treasurer; Stanford F. Hartman Jr., first vice president, Alliant Insurance Services, immediate past president; and directors Barbara K.
