About the event
Scott Wahl, a lifelong San Diegan, has dedicated over 25 years to the San Diego Police Department (SDPD). His father, Michael Wahl, was also an SDPD officer for 35 years, retiring at the rank of Detective. Throughout his career, Assistant Chief Wahl has acquired a diverse background in policing, addressing challenging issues such as homelessness, mental health, drug and alcohol addiction, and media relations. His journey includes roles like starting the department’s homeless division, serving as a detective in the vice unit, and acting as the department’s public information officer. Scott previously held the position of Assistant Chief, overseeing special projects and legislative affairs—a relatively new responsibility. The Mayor nominated Assistant Chief Wahl to serve as the Chief of Police upon the retirement of David Nisleit. As a fourth-generation San Diegan, Police Chief Wahl’s commitment to public service runs deep, and he brings a wealth of experience to address our city’s hot button issues. Come join us for what will be a timely and interesting discussion.
