In the blink of an eye, we've already reached April. The first quarter has passed swiftly, yet there's still plenty to accomplish—and much we've already achieved this year. Many of you joined us to celebrate Founders Day, where we honored Mike Pack as Brother of the Year. This recognition was long overdue, and Mike truly deserves it. It was a nice evening with great representation from the undergrads at CSU San Marcos, and a wide range of alumni from young to "not so young". We had a great presentation from Matt Weinstein, Trustee from the ΣΑΕ Foundation regarding the state of ΣΑΕ nationally. And of course, the Master of Ceremony duties were expertly handled by Brother Gary Losey.

We are actively developing the schedule for the remainder of the year and want to keep you informed about our plans. We hope you consider joining us and becoming part of our alumni community! We have many exciting things planned and believe you'll appreciate our efforts.

Our upcoming luncheon is approaching quickly, and we are nearly set with our speaker and date, likely scheduled for early May. Stay tuned for an announcement and details shortly. We have plans for two additional luncheons this fall, one is a lock with one of our favorites: SDSU Head Basketball Coach Brian Dutcher! These events consistently feature excellent guest speakers who discuss relevant and stimulating topics and provide "inside the ropes" information. It's a fantastic chance to network professionally, reconnect with old friends, and meet new people. By the way, Losey is a tall guy, but next to Coach Lewis you could not tell.

The core of our Alumni Association is its membership. We rely on membership dues to continue offering benefits to our members, support event costs, and provide scholarships and programs for local undergraduates, new alumni, and our community. Simply put, we can't achieve this without your participation and support. Naturally, our alumni association is comprised of a majority of Cal Theta (SDSU) members, but we welcome members from across the country. We have thousands of alumni in San Diego from across the realm and it is our goal to welcome all! We strive to foster alumni engagement and strengthen the lifelong bond of brotherhood by providing opportunities for alumni to stay connected, contribute and mentor future generations of ΣΑΕ. We have created a multi-tiered membership program that lets you engage at various levels based on your preferred involvement. You can explore the different levels and their benefits, and sign up by clicking here: www.saesd.org/join

We're organizing something special for Friday, August 1st that you won't want to miss! Our annual Padres Night With the Bros is getting a major upgrade! We've booked a private suite at Petco Park to watch the Padres face off against the Cardinals! In past years, we've enjoyed the game from the right field Bud Deck, but this time, we're enhancing the experience by securing a suite for a more exclusive brotherhood gathering. The suite capacity is limited to 30 bros and will be complimentary for all "Phi Alpha Club" Members! Refreshments will be provided, and while we can't promise a win, we do guarantee a fantastic evening of brotherhood! Sign up early, as this will be the most sought-after ticket in town!! Ticket sales will begin in June, but if you want to guarantee a spot, join as a Phi Alpha Club Member for a complimentary ticket, or Minerva Club for a discounted seat ticket (50% off).

Throughout the year, we will host a "Brews With Bros" event, or if it aligns with National's marketing strategies, we'll hold a "Third Thursday" event. Essentially, they are the same: a relaxed gathering at craft breweries, pubs, restaurants, or any "Bro owned" venue in San Diego that we can discover and support! To the left is one of our favorite repeat venues - Coronado Brewing Co.

We will conclude the year with our annual Holiday Party on December 7 at 4:00 PM. It's the perfect way to start the holiday season with your spouse or significant other. Join us for a cocktail party at the San Diego Yacht Club, and wear your finest holiday attire to partake in the celebration! Enjoy delicious appetizers and festive cocktails. This event has received rave reviews in recent years, so don't miss it! Many Brothers will vouch for this event!

We hope that you will continue with your support of the San Diego Area Alumni Association by renewing your membership here: www.saesd.org/join

If you are new to our group, come to an event and see for yourself. We have members from the 1950's and 60's all the way to the 2020's! We are always looking for new ways to bring brothers together for fun events and community involvement - so if you have any ideas or recommendations we'd love to hear from you!

In The Bonds,

Kip Barton
