The second annual Brews with Bros Padres Game was held June 10th at Petco Park in conjunction with BeerFest. Numerous local brewers provided craft beers for $5 each in Park at the Park. Among the favorites was beloved AleSmith San Diego Pale Ale .394, which pays tribute to the city that Tony Gwynn loved and the career-high batting average he achieved in '94.
A large group of brothers enjoyed delicious pre-game beers and great conversation on top of the grassy knoll under perfect weather conditions. Not bad. At game time, we all moved to the exclusive ΣΑΕ reserved Budweiser Patio with its outstanding field views.
Thirty brothers had a great time socializing, including a sizable contingent of young alumni under 35. We didn’t need to pay much attention to the game, as the 9-0 Padres victory left little in doubt from the outset. Good. Party on. The event was blessed with the attendance of five executive board members from CA-Theta (SDSU). The continuing outreach to all alumni from across the realm living in San Diego again netted solid results. It was great to meet three young brothers from Texas Alpha (Texas Tech), as well new faces from WA Beta (Washington State), CA Psi (UC Irvine), and IL Gamma (Northern Illinois University). Keep it coming! No worries – this fun-filled event will be back next year and beyond.
