The 4th Annual Leadership Transition Forum was held at the California Theta (CA-TH) chapter house on August 27th. The event was expanded to Province Chi Alpha for the first time, resulting in enthusiastic visits from Nevada Beta (UNLV) and California Alpha Gamma (San Marcos). Attendees included: 10 alumni subgroup facilitators; Province Archon Matt Walsh; Keynote speaker Jeff Byroads (CA-TH '74); and newer alumni association contributor Brandon Wisler (coincidentally hails from the same university as Brother Mike Templeton – University of Cincinnati). Brandon was kind enough to act as an event photographer and did a superb job.
The agenda started with a great breakfast provided by the "ace" kitchen staff managed by House Corporation president Gary Losey (CA-TH '76).
San Diego Area Alumni Association president Kip Barton then provided opening remarks, emphasizing the four pillars of SAE (friendship, scholarship, leadership & service).
The Keynote Speaker was Jeff Bryroads. Jeff is a former California Theta Eminent Archon, Province Archon, and Order of the Phoenix recipient. He spoke of his time as an active CA-TH Brother, his experience co-founding TCS Insurance, and then becoming the founder & principal of Wateridge Insurance Services, the largest independent insurance brokerage in San Diego County with 85 personnel on staff. Jeff's story emphasized the importance of self-confidence and was an inspiration to all in attendance.
The assembly then broke into sub-groups where the teams passed knowledge and experience from alumni and outgoing California Theta office holders to the incoming officers of the three chapters in attendance.
The event wrapped up with new officers individually presenting highlights of what they had gleaned from the experience. All had a good time and are already looking forward to next year's Forum.
