On Saturday, February 27th, Brother Bill Marckwardt (CA-TH ‘ 76) and his wife Betty, again hosted their semi-annual New Member Breakfast for the Cal Theta Executive Board in their beautiful El Cerrito home. A number of Alumni attended the event, including Adam Porter (CA-TH ’02), John McMullen (CA-TH ’70), Jonathan Davis (CATH ’03), Gary Martin (CA-TH ’81) and Gary Losey (CA-TH ’79).Active Members, Giuseppe Marzola-Garrow, and EDA Ian Fielden, also attended.
Ten brothers from the newly-inducted class individually introduced themselves before the alums, and explained their interest in specifically joining ΣAE. Each new member related what they had gleaned from their fraternity experience thus far - in the midst of light-hearted exchanges. The alums and actives, in turn, related their experiences and knowledge gained from their ΣAE experience (replete with a few tales of yore). The ΣAE for Life philosophy was instilled in the young true gentleman. The ceremony was wrapped with enthusiastic renditions of Violet (to Betty), Friends, and Come Sing to Sig. The occasion conveyed to the attendees that ΣAE membership is for life, not just college.
